Presented by Researcher Ned Quist
For 8 years, Mr. Quist, a retired academic librarian, has been studying the Shakers' imprint on the Harvard area, beginning with when they arrived in 1781 and continuing for over 137 years. He has utilized records, maps, blueprints, photographs, and charts, as well as actual cellar holes and the buildings themselves. He also interviewed local people, many of whom currently live in Shaker houses. He has solved some mysteries and created a few more. Join us for a look at this fascinating social structure.
