Jonathan Whitcomb killed a bear that threatened his herd of cattle in 1740. This plaque was carved into a ledge in the valley where the farm was located. |

The plaque is now protected as an historic easement off Nancy’s Way, by Rt 2 and Whitcomb Ave. |
